Registrations open for first Rolls-Royce SMR & Great British Energy – Nuclear joint supply chain event
‘Delivering Together’ is the theme for the first joint event where suppliers will discover how they can become part of the supply chain to deliver Small Modular Reactors (SMRs) on Ynys Môn and around the world.
The landmark two-day event, taking place on 22-23 October at Coleg Menai’s Llangefni Campus, will bring together the local, regional, national and international supply chain to hear from senior members of the Rolls-Royce SMR and Great British Energy - Nuclear (GBE-N) teams delivering the Gwyndod project to build the UK’s first SMRs on Ynys Môn.
Rolls-Royce SMR and GBE-N will be joined by their delivery partners and several major tier-one suppliers, giving delegates the opportunity to meet the people leading the programme, understand what will be expected from the supply chain, and the support available as the project moves forward.
Ruth Todd, Operations and Supply Chain Director at Rolls-Royce SMR, said: “A strong capable supply chain is key to our success - from major tier-one partners through to local businesses here in North Wales.
“The landmark ‘Delivering Together’ event will help suppliers understand the scale of our programme, the standards required and the support available - so they can see how they will contribute to a new generation of nuclear power while creating lasting social value through skills, jobs and investment.”
Andrew Stephenson, GBE-N's Chief Commercial Officer, added: “Delivering Together is not only about setting out the scale of the opportunity ahead - it is about making sure suppliers of all sizes understand how they can be part of it.
“By working closely with our partner Rolls-Royce SMR, major suppliers and local businesses, we want to build a resilient, competitive supply chain that supports the Gwyndod project and creates long-term economic value for Ynys Môn, North Wales and the whole UK.”
Rolls-Royce SMR will lead on the first day of the conference, which will focus on national and international suppliers, whilst GBE-N will lead the second day with a focus on opportunities for local suppliers and small and medium sized enterprises - helping them understand how to become involved in the Gwyndod project and support its ambition to deliver lasting local socio-economic benefits.
