We are now recruiting for a Manufacturing Engineer to be involved in delivering an industry leading, cutting-edge design project for a new type of nuclear power station.
What we’re looking for
As Manufacturing Engineer, you're primarily responsible for devising, developing and implementing new manufacturing capabilities for the RR SMR modules factory, and assisting in the operational running of a full-scale manufacturing technology demonstrator to mature these manufacturing capabilities to a point where they are ready for implementation in the factory.
Capability in this context means all aspects of manufacturing technology, methods and processes needed for the manufacture and assembly of modules within the RR SMR modules factory, as well as those needed for onsite manufacture of the power station.
The ongoing project requires regular weekly travel to the suppliers site located in Sheffield. Hybrid working options continue to be available.
Key selection criteria for this role are:
Risk Management Expertise:
Proven ability to manage and deliver technical, financial, and commercial risks associated with introducing new equipment, manufacturing processes, and technology into production.
Ensuring realisation of full benefits while prioritizing product and process safety in compliance with relevant legislation and professional codes of conduct.
Operational Leadership in Technology Projects:
Proficient in operationally managing complex demonstrator programs and manufacturing cells.
Ensuring safe and controlled delivery of technology projects through the application of standard operational tools such as 5S, visual management, daily stand-ups, etc.
Collaborative Project Team Integration:
Ability to integrate effectively within a project team in a commercial environment.
Collaborating with external partners and suppliers, with experience in engineering businesses involved in manufacturing nuclear heavy industry products or similar highly regulated industries.
End-to-End Equipment Delivery:
Demonstrated ability to deliver equipment, starting from writing specifications.
Collaborating with purchasing for assessment of responses and overseeing acceptance testing on site.
Experience in Multi-Party R&D Environments:
Extensive experience in multi-party complex R&D manufacturing environments.
Operational expertise in setting up new production facilities/cells and working within operational environments.
• Professionally Qualified Engineer (e.g. UK minimum HND/foundation degree or other national equivalent) in an engineering discipline.

Pay and Benefits
We anticipate paying a salary between £40,000 to £52,000 plus package.
There is also a performance related bonus of up to 12.5%, and an attractive pension scheme with 12% employer and 6% employee contributions. You will also receive a flexible benefits allowance of £2,200, enabling you to create a bespoke package to suit your needs.

Each Rolls-Royce SMR power station will have the capacity to generate 470MW of low carbon energy, equivalent to more than 150 onshore wind turbines and enough to power a million homes.
