We are now recruiting for the exciting position of External Hazards Engineer, to play a key role in supporting the development of the Rolls-Royce SMR Power Station and the successful completion of the Generic Design Assessment (GDA) and other licensing and permitting processes.
You will develop and maintain the External Hazards delivery programme as part of the overall delivery programme, and also develop External Hazards submissions for the development of the Environment, Safety, Security and Safeguards (E3S) Case and plan and manage External Hazards submissions for GDA.

We’re looking for experience and skills in these key areas:-
In-depth knowledge of the types of external hazards that could impact the safe operation of a complex facility, such as an operating Nuclear Power Plant, and in the derivation of withstand requirements.
Experience of the UK civil nuclear regulatory regime and in particular the UK regulator’s GDA process.
Good communication and interpersonal skills to be able to represent the project at appropriate internal technical and project reviews and at external meetings with the regulator and other stakeholders
A demonstrable ability to work in multidisciplinary teams with staff from all levels to tight deadlines.
Ideally, experience in the consideration of external hazards in support of the design of a Nuclear Power Plant. Able to provide support to the designers and report to the regulators.
Pay and Benefits
We anticipate a paying salary of between £40,000 & £55,000, plus
Performance related bonus of up to 12.5%,
