We are now recruiting for the exciting role of Probabilistic Safety Assessment (PSA) Lead, to be involved in the compliance for game changing technology within the nuclear industry.
As the PSA Lead you will play a key role in the ownership, development and maintenance the Probabilistic Safety Assessment (PSA) delivery as part of the overall SMR programme.
This is a unique opportunity to inform the development and design of a nuclear
reactor that is the first of its kind.
This role will also offer the opportunity to expand into nuclear site licensing and supporting
non UK customers as the business continues to grow.
Key outcomes in the role
- Provide support to engineering disciplines in their decision-making process enabling them to use PSA as an input to choose between different design options that are under consideration.
- Ensure that the appropriate level of quality and governance is applied to PSA submissions.
- Acting as a PSA controlling mind and be able to represent the project at appropriate internal technical and project reviews and at external meetings with the regulator and other stakeholders.
- Responsible for managing the delivery and quality of work undertaken by supply chain partners.
- Partnering with Project Manager Office to manage budget and programme requirements

Key Selection Criteria
- In-depth knowledge of the development and application of PSA to nuclear facilities, preferably to a complex facility such as an operating Nuclear Power Plant (includes Level 1, Level 2 and Level 3 PSA).
- Experience in the use of PSA to support the design of a Nuclear Power Plant (risk informed design).
- Familiarity with PSA software analysis tools, particularly Risk Spectrum.
- Experience in the leadership of the production of PSA documentation.
- Good communication and interpersonal skills to be able to represent the project both internally and externally.
Pay and Benefits
We anticipate a paying salary of between £50,000 - £65,000, a performance related bonus of up to x%, an attractive pension scheme with 12% employer and 6% employee contributions. You will also receive a flexible benefits allowance of £2,200, enabling you to create a bespoke package to suit your needs.

Each Rolls-Royce SMR power station will have the capacity to generate 470MW of low carbon energy, equivalent to more than 150 onshore wind turbines and enough to power a million homes. It will provide consistent baseload generation for at least 60 years, helping to support the roll out of renewable generation and overcome intermittency issues

- Obtaining Baseline Personnel Security Standard (BPSS) clearance
- Satisfactory completion of a Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) check
