Senior Project Planner - Rolls Royce SMR
Morson Talent are working in partnership with Rolls-Royce SMR to recruit a Senior Project Planner to join their team in Derby / hybrid.
The Senior Project Planner will be interfacing with the Project Controls Manager, Project Delivery Managers and Work Package leads while also dealing with Project Teams per Work Package developing and maintaining Work Package performance measurement baselines and providing controls, analysis and assurance of these.
Rolls-Royce SMR is a start-up joint special purpose vehicle (SPV) business, specifically created to design, construct and deliver a new fleet of Small Modular Reactors power plants that will be a critical and strategic player in the race to Net Zero carbon emissions globally. Spun out of Rolls-Royce with its pedigree in engineering excellence but also attracting world class inward investment this is an exciting new business with an optimistic opportunity to be a global player in the coming years.
Working within the PMO and reporting to the Planning Manager, the Project Planner will have a broad range of touch points with members across the PMO, Engineering and other teams. At the highest level, the Project Planner will be interfacing with the Project Controls Manager, Project Delivery Managers and Work Package leads while also dealing with Project Teams per Work Package developing and maintaining Work Package performance measurement baselines and providing controls, analysis and assurance of these.
Lead on the analysis and reporting of schedule progress.
Ensure effective and efficient use of planning capacity.
Lead the integration of project and area schedules into the Master Control Schedule.
Manage schedule interfaces.
Provide clarification on area performance as requested, and as part of periodic Schedule Management processes (i.e. Prepare Schedule and update with progress, report on progress).
Provide analysis on schedule performance as requested, including special schedule studies if required.
Highlight areas of concern and request planning support.
Escalation of any schedule related issues.
Provide area and project feedback.
Initiate/progress/approve schedule changes to baseline and inform change control process.
Coach and mentor junior staff
Provide subject matter expertise on Earned Value Management

Qualifications & Experience
Degree qualified or equivalent
Experience in a Project Controls role within large, complex infrastructure or construction projects, preferably with a formal professional Project Management qualification.
Proficient in EVM processes and its application on construction projects and possess a strong aptitude for schedule, Cost, Risk, Change management activities as well as Reporting.
Knowledge of transport, major infrastructure or construction projects (under NEC Forms of Contract), specifically surrounding Client and consultation.
Ability to manage stakeholders and information flow in a matrix environment, possessing a strong aptitude toward working horizontally across business areas and vertically to senior levels of management, providing specialist advice as required.
Consistent attention to detail with the ability to solve complex problems and mitigate risks.
