The role of Business Development Manager will be to target qualified markets to generate interest and future sales of the market leading RR SMR technology.

SMR Headline Info

Rolls-Royce SMR was established with one clear goal - to deliver clean, affordable energy for all.

Rolls-Royce SMR offers a radically different approach to delivering nuclear power, we have drastically reduced the amount of construction activities and transformed the delivery environment, from a large complex infrastructure programme into a factory built commoditised product.

Rolls-Royce SMR uses established nuclear technology and know-how to offer a low cost, deliverable, global, scalable, and investable solution, that can be rolled out around the world.

About the position

As the Business Development Manager, you will drive and support the realisation of a once in a generation opportunity to bring to market a nuclear power station, the Rolls-Royce Small Modular Reactor.  Based on Rolls-Royce heritage in nuclear plant design and manufacture, this new, turnkey, low carbon power plant solution is equally applicable for government, utility and industrial customers.

  • Candidates who have sold to large multiples or governments would be most suitable, with a proven track record of Senior stakeholder engagement
  • Whilst Nuclear experience isn't a must, you will have operated within a high value sales environment, ideally with international experience.
  • Although the role is Sales focused, candidates who have operated within client facing roles outside of sales would also be considered
  • I hope it goes without saying, but an interest in the nuclear sector and the innovative technology that RR SMR are bringing to market is a must.

Who we are

Rolls-Royce SMR’s small modular reactor (SMR) programme is the first of its kind in the UK,

with the opportunity to develop a factory-built nuclear power plant that is deliverable and scalable at a global level.

A Rolls-Royce SMR power station will have the capacity to generate 470mw of low carbon energy, equivalent to more than 150 onshore wind turbines. It will provide consistent baseload generation for at least 60 years, helping to support the roll-out of renewable generation.

In addition to stable base load power, Rolls-Royce SMRs will be able to provide energy for the Net Zero manufacture of green hydrogen and synthetic fuels, to support the path to Net Zero and the decarbonisation of transport.

The 470MW SMR draws upon well-established Pressurised Water Reactor (PWR) technology in use all over the world, but Rolls-Royce SMR’s unique approach will see the reactor components built in factory conditions and assembled on site.

Our factory-built model is entirely scalable, as demand increases, we invest in further factories using the same design and management systems used for all our SMRs.

When fully operational the Rolls-Royce SMR programme is forecast to create 40,000 regional UK jobs by 2050 and generate £52bn in economic benefit.

Having begun the design assessment process with the UK regulators, the organisation is at a point where it needs to significantly increase its workforce, offering candidates the opportunity to work with cutting edge technology within a world-class team.
