The Post

A pivotal role in the business, reporting to the Group Head of Supply Chain, expected to have regular interaction with Group Heads, ELT and other leaders in the business, with a broad scope of responsibilities and accountability.

The post owns the relationship between the supply chain organisation and the rest of the business, and as such requires those with demonstrable leadership experience of delivering challenging and complex engineering programmes.

Due to the seniority and cross function nature of the role, the holder will be expected to deputise for the Group Head of Supply Chain when required.

As well as the direct reports, the role will also be responsible for the relationship with Rolls-Royce SMR Ltd Quality function and other none supply chain organisation departments such as; PMO, Export control and finance.

This role will work closely with the Head of Supply Chain Delivery, Head of Supply Chain Programmes (External), Head of Supply Chain Strategy and Head of Supply Chain Commercial, in leading the creation of an efficient and effective supply chain organisation to manage and deliver a fully capable and operational efficient supply chain delivery team.

The Role will own planning, Risk, mitigation, operational priorities, resource development within Supply Chain Delivery

Key Responsibilities

  • Accountable for management and delivery of the Supply Chain elements in the P6 Schedule
  • Accountable for ensuring timely deliverables demand into the Supply Chain organisation
  • Accountable for establishing, maintaining and delivery of the Supply Chain metrics for the Supply Chain Organisation to Group Head
  • Accountable for the design of a fit for purpose high performing Supply Chain
  • Responsible for ensuring all engineering maturity gates are fully resourced and delivered on time
  • Accountable for the continuous development, compliance and training to company policies, processes and procedures, ensuring all schedules and documentations are correct and maintained in line with regulatory requirements
  • Provide cross functional leadership for recruitment, line management and capability development of all Delivery team members
  • Accountable for the development, management and operational performance of all supply chain partners and supplier’s Digital tools and processes
  • Responsible for building a Supply Chain Design and Logistics function to support Build Certainty.
  • Responsible for establishing reporting tools and reports for the Supply Chain
  • Responsible for ensuring Supply Chain delivery is TAG077 compliant
  • Manage effective communication of legislative and regulatory compliance requirements with affected teams, ensuring that teams maintain levels of knowledge to support compliance. Support the communication and execution of the functional vision, strategy and policies
  • Stakeholder Management - nurture effective relationships with multiple stakeholders, across SMR Business at all levels including the ELT and leadership
  • Continuous Improvement – Lead and implement industry best standards for the development and delivery of an effective and efficient Supply Chain organisation.

  • Knowledge of Nuclear quality and regulatory requirements
  • Awareness of Export Law and control within a nuclear environment
  • Understanding of Supplier risk management and continuity planning
  • Ability to lead for supplier Code of Ethics
  • Leadership and management of a diverse functional team
  • Lean / Process / Spend /Cost budget management and improvement

Qualifications & Experience

  • Ability to lead and direct a diverse functional team
  • Qualification or relevant experience in lean and other cost reduction strategies
  • Well organised, systematic and rigorous approach to planning work and priorities.
  • Delivery of results (value) from successfully working with stakeholders and customers
  • Degree qualified with significant experience in a relevant Engineering and/or Programme management discipline
  • Excellent influencing and inter-personal skills
  • Ability to simplify and communicate complex topics
  • Ability to work at senior level in an organisations up to and including with CEO/COO and MD levels
