Engineering Programme Manager Rolls - Royce SMR
Morson Talent are working in partnership with Rolls - Royce SMR (small modular reactor) to recruit a Engineering Programme Manager who will lead on all aspects of programme and project management for a programme of work constituting one or more Work Pack, making up a significant subsection of the Rolls-Royce SMR Engineering Programme scope.
Rolls-Royce SMR is a start-up special purpose vehicle (SPV) business, specifically created to design, construct and deliver a new fleet of Small Modular Reactor power plants that will be a critical and strategic player in the race to Net Zero carbon emissions globally. Spun out of Rolls-Royce with its pedigree in engineering excellence but also attracting world class inward investment this is an exciting new business with an optimistic opportunity to be a global player in the coming years.
This role, reporting to the Head of Programme - Engineering, will lead on all aspects of programme and project management for a programme of work constituting one or more Work Pack, making up a significant subsection of the Rolls-Royce SMR Engineering Programme scope. This role will be supported by a team of Project Managers and Project Assistants and ensure successful delivery of the Work Pack(s) to time, cost and quality - through the application of engineering understanding and project management experience.
Leading the management, co-ordination and integration of projects within their programme of work.
Providing project management oversight and support to the execution of their programme of work and tracking progress compared with the performance measurement baseline.
Developing and controlling the budget for their programme of work and managing expenditure within agreed spending plans.
Leading the creation and maintenance of the required project documentation for their programme of work.
Leading the development and production of reporting for their programme of work against agreed KPIs, including earned value and variance analysis.
Interpreting performance data to lead the development and implementation of measures to improve delivery performance in their programme of work.
Managing and co-ordinating dependencies within and external to their programme of work and resolving conflicts.
Liaising with the Supply Chain and Safety and Regulatory Affairs functions to co-ordinate dependencies with their programme of work and resolving conflicts.
Leading on the appropriate management of risk within their programme of work.
Leading on the implementation of change management within their programme of work.
Ensuring compliance with project management processes and procedures as described by the Business Management System.
Responsible for line management of a team of Project Managers and Project Assistants, including but not limited to recruitment, budget and headcount management, performance management, development, and resource allocation.
Assisting the Head of Programme in developing of the overall approach for programme management within the engineering function.
Actively contribute to the development and execution of project management good practice within the business.

Qualifications & Experience
Degree qualified in an engineering discipline
Extensive Project Management experience in planning, controlling budgets and driving to schedules, within a technical environment
Engineering and technical competence, sufficient to enable decision making
Understanding of non-core project management roles such as purchasing, commercial, engineering management etc.
Well organised, systematic and rigorous approach to planning work and priorities
Excellent influencing and inter-personal skills
Ability to simplify and communicate complex topics to stakeholders at all levels
Member of a professional body and working towards RPP (Recognised Project Professional) qualification or equivalent.
