EC&I Integration Manager

Morson Talent are currently working in partnership with Rolls-Royce SMR (small modular reactor) to recruit a EC&I Integration Manager to develop and manage the design teams to deliver all aspects of the EC&I Power station design programme.

The Post

The conventional island design organisation is responsible for the design development for all systems outside of the reactor island to support the availability and safe operation of the power station.

The role of Power station EC&I Integration Manager reports to the Conventional Island Chief Design Engineer. As an EC&I expert, the successful applicant will develop and manage the EC&I design teams to deliver all aspects of the EC&I design programme for the power station design development (Reactor Island C&I is the responsibility of others). Integration of the EC&I architecture into the island areas is key to project success: they will do this by working closely with the engineering teams from across the power station (e.g. design teams, human factors, safety, security, V&V etc) and applying a structured systems engineering approach to design.

Key Responsibilities

  • Delivery of the programme to schedule and budget
  • Integration between work areas that are in the responsibility of the post holder and other island areas
  • Ensuring standardisation of design (principles, architecture and equipment) between RI and conventional island
  • System Engineering development for the power station EC&I areas including identification of interfaces using MBSE tools
  • Leadership
  •    Development and management of a team appropriate to fulfil the scope of work
  •    Setting of goals and targets for team members
  • SQEPing of team and identification of training needs to maintain SQEP
  • Schedule updates, change management and reporting
  • Intelligent customer for external design packages to include specification and oversight of activities
  • Definition and application of codes and standards and compliance with relevant legislation
  • Development of modular design solutions to support build certainty targets
  • Interface for grid connection once First of a Fleet site is identified
  • Technical governance accountability for the EC&I design area

Required Competencies

  • Proven leadership / management of medium sized cross discipline teams on large complex programmes
  • Expertise in Electrical, Control and Instrumentation in applicable / related industry
  • Systems engineering application to design on complex integrated programmes
  • Full lifecycle design experience in the Electrical, Control and Instrumentation area. 
  • Programme management capability

Qualifications & Experience

  • Qualified to degree level or equivalent in engineering or a related discipline.
  • Professionally recognised through an appropriate professional body.
  • Experienced in the use of Systems Engineering tools & techniques, including requirements management and Model Based Systems Engineering.
  • Full lifecycle design experience in the Electrical, Control & Instrumentation area.  Preferably from power station (nuclear or conventional), but equally could be from other safety-critical industries such as Aerospace, Defence, Oil & Gas, etc.
  • Experience of working with regulatory bodies such as the UK Office for Nuclear Regulation (ONR) and Environment Agency (EA)
  • Leadership of cross discipline (EC&I) teams
  • Project management experience is desirable
  • Experience of integration activities between disciplines and work pack areas
