Configuration Technical Authority
Morson Talent are currently working in partnership with Rolls-Royce SMR (small modular reactor to recruit a Configuration Technical Authority to join their team in Derby , this role is covering the entire power station configuration management, with the responsibility for the development and Technical implementation of Configuration Management processes and procedures that supports the lifecycle requirements defined in the engineering, programme and quality management plans.
Rolls-Royce SMR is a start-up joint special purpose vehicle (SPV) business, specifically created to design, construct and deliver a new fleet of Small Modular Reactor power plants that will be a critical and strategic player in the race to Net Zero carbon emissions globally. Spun out of Rolls-Royce with its pedigree in engineering excellence but also attracting world class inward investment this is an exciting new business with an optimistic opportunity to be a global player in the coming years.
An exciting opportunity has arisen to join the programme as the Configuration Technical Authority. The role is crucial to the programme, covering the entire power station configuration management, with the responsibility for the development and Technical implementation of Configuration Management processes and procedures that supports the lifecycle requirements defined in the engineering, programme and quality management plans. The successful candidate will be responsible for establishing the configuration framework that supports efficient engineering processes and data management in a complex programme environment.
Establish and maintain a roadmap aligning the functional and physical configuration to key programme milestones.
Develop, evolve and embed the framework of configuration plans, policies and processes that Rolls-Royce SMR operate within.
Establish data standards to manage the integration of configuration information across Rolls-Royce SMR and its supply chain.
Establish and maintain engineering change management processes and enactment procedures that comply with programme, contract and regulatory requirements. Introduce safeguards that ensure formal change records are complete and accurate.
Define the configuration, integration, reporting and analytics toolset functionality requirements and provide support for the development, UAT and implementation of the software solutions.
Establish and perform functional and physical configuration audits across Rolls-Royce SMR and its supply chain that demonstrates compliance with configuration standards to the business and regulator.
Develop the technical capability of the Configuration Management Group ensuring the business is properly supported with Suitably Qualified and Experienced Persons.
Work with the engineering functions to develop and embed supporting BoM principles, continue to evolve these to align with MBD, Digital Twin and MBSE capabilities.
Nurture a culture of shared configuration responsibility and language across the programme through engagement and training.
Represent the technical aspects of configuration management across the programme and externally to the business.
Understands the appropriate level of Risk in the Company.
Has a grasp of any implications of Public Relations.
Understands and applies appropriate Corporate Governance to decision making.
Understands appropriate Commercial and Corporate law decision making.
Understands Safety & UK Regulatory Affairs
Ability to influence large programmes and engineering teams and implement new processes and methods
Skilled in configuration management and related processes, methods and tools.
Operating knowledge of Configuration principles and practices
Proficient user of Teamcenter and NX (or equivalent PLM and CAD systems)
Displays Accountable “above the line” behaviours at all times

Travel: Contracted location of work is in Derby although we operate a hybrid working policy allowing you to work remotely with the agreement of your leader, though may require some travel within the working day when visiting other branches or organisations.
Working hours: 37.5 hrs per week are standard office hours with some overtime as required.
