Role: Reactor Island C&I Architecture Lead - Rolls Royce Small Modular Reactors (SMR)
Location: 2-3 days/week in Warrington or Derby office with rest worked from home

Morson are working exclusively with Rolls Royce SMR to recruit a Reactor Island C&I Architecture Lead to join a team based in either Derby or Warrington to form part of their core team for their Small Modular Reactors power plants programme. This individual will play a pivotal role in the development and engineering of SMR technology through a complex lifecycle, with the intent of delivering a clean energy solution which can deliver cost competitive and scalable net zero power for multiple applications.
This role will be based 2-3 days per week in the office with the rest worked from home.
Role
Technical Team Lead with experience in the Systems Engineering and C&I development, will report to and support the Reactor Island C&I Design Manager in programme management and planning. They will be responsible for the leadership of the C&I Architecture design team and technical output. Using robust systems engineering thinking throughout the design lifecycle, the team will ensure the C&I integrates within the plant design
Key Knowledge and Responsibilities
- Development of system specifications to the required schedule and budget, meeting plant and regulatory requirements.
- System specification validation, through assessments and modelling.
- Need someone who understands systems behaviour and how to integrate / integrated into overall systems, and can anticipate / oversee integration issues
- Specification of V&V programme for system integration and support to its development and results.
- Integration of C&I Systems with plant system to meet overall plant objectives
- Integration of C&I Systems into the Control Rooms
- Publish EC&I information and documentation to the plant safety case.
- Design and development of a robust supply chain.
- Support the Design manager in Developing and delivering the internal technical competency and capability
- Support the Design manager in Technical and Programme management and support the governance of the design team.
- Support the Design Manager in Personnel Management of the team
- Good nuclear industry background – understands nuclear programme and challenges of working through a GDA programme

Qualifications and Experience
- Degree qualification in one or more of the engineering disciplines of electrical, electronics, instrumentation, controls, mechanical and physics. Additionally, applicants without a degree who can nevertheless demonstrate suitable experience may also be considered.
- Knowledge of the nuclear or other high integrity industries is beneficial
- Knowledge and experience of complex safety critical systems or industrial process plants is beneficial.
- Knowledge of Functional Safety standards such as IEC 61508 and 61513 is beneficial.
