Morson Talent are working in partnership with Rolls Royce to recruit a Modelling and Software Lead.

Rolls-Royce SMR is a start-up joint special purpose vehicle (SPV) business, specifically created to design, construct and deliver a new fleet of Small Modular Reactors power plants that will be a critical and strategic player in the race to Net Zero carbon emissions globally. Spun out of Rolls-Royce with its pedigree in engineering excellence but also attracting world class inward investment this is an exciting new business with an optimistic opportunity to be a global player in the coming years.

The Post

A Technical Team Lead will report to and support the Reactor Island C&I Design in programme management and planning. They will be responsible for the leadership of the Modelling and Software Team and its technical output. Using robust systems engineering thinking throughout the design lifecycle, the team will ensure the C&I integrates within the plant design.

Key Responsibilities

Review and agree high level requirements for the model, including quality requirements
Development of the modelling and simulation environment, policies, procedures, and tool sets.
Develop models and simulations suitable for validating functional requirements.
Support Validation Plans by integrating model into Validation environment.
Liaises with other disciplines to understand functional performance capabilities of components of the system to facilitate effective component design.
Support to planning and implementation of policies and procedures to related to the life cycle of an electrical product.
Contribute to the production of safety cases and provide support in liaising with regulators and independent nuclear safety assessors.
Design and development of a robust supply chain.
Support the Design manager in Developing and delivering the internal technical competency and capability
Support the Design manager in Technical and Programme management and support the governance of the design team.
Support the Design Manager in Personnel Management of the team

Qualifications & Experience
A Degree qualification in one or more of the engineering disciplines of electrical, electronics, instrumentation, controls, mechanical and physics. Additionally, applicants without a degree who can nevertheless demonstrate suitable experience may also be considered.
Knowledge and experience in the nuclear industry or a similar safety-oriented industry.
Knowledge and experience of complex programmable systems used in the nuclear industry is beneficial.
Knowledge of Functional Safety standards such as IEC 61508 and 61513 is beneficial.
